Masuk boys lacrosse team battles to season-opening victory

MONROE, CT — A late, tie-breaking goal propelled the Masuk High boys lacrosse team to an exciting 7-6 season-opening win over visiting Newington on Saturday. A.J. Cavanaugh took a pass from Cole Henderson and deposited the game-winner with 3:34 remaining. Henderson and Andrew Picci both recorded hat-tricks to help lead the offense. Henderson had a big day with three assists for six points, Picci assisted on two goals and Cavanaugh also set up a tally.
