Masuk boys tip off season with win

MONROE, CT — The Masuk High boys basketball team opened the season with a 65-53 win over visiting Trumbull on Friday. Coach Pete Szklarz said it was a total team effort. Mitch DeBernardo led the way with 26 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Stephen Sentementes had 13 points, three rebounds and a trio of assists. Oliver Irving scored 15 points to go along with 12 rebounds, six steals and three assists. Mario Testa opened Testo’s at 920 Madison Ave. in Bridgeport in 1976, and despite a change in ownership, a brief retirement and two different locations along the way, Testo’s continues to be a family operation 48 years later.
