Tuesday, Sept. 24

Tech Help Tuesdays at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Got a new smart phone, tablet, or e-reader and need some help using your device? Or do you have a basic computer or technology question? Come on down Tuesdays and ask the experts.

No appointment or prior registration necessary.  Come to the Reference Desk to get started. Can’t make it?  Contact [email protected] to discuss a one-on-one appointment.

Stay and Play at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

All ages with a caregiver. Join us for a brief storytime, followed by playtime, socializing, and refreshments. Early literacy fun for the kids and a meet-up for the grownups.  Registration is not required. Location:  Children’s Story Room

Creative Kids at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

All ages. Drop by to unleash your creative side! We’ll have all the materials to make a beautiful craft. Please note: caregiver assistance may be needed.  Registration is not required. Location: Children’s Reading Room.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

MOMS Club Open Park Play Date, 9:30 to 11 a.m., Great Hollow Lake.

Play Café at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Ages birth through 6 with a caregiver. What do you call a playtime, storytime, and meet-up combined? We call it Play Café!  Kids can enjoy our train table, Duplo table, play house, puzzles, puppets, and other toys while caregivers get to know other adults in our community.

We’ll have a fun activity set up in our Craft/Storyhour Rooms. Spontaneous storytimes, bubbles, musical instrument fun, and other activities will vary from week to week. Be sure to check out books and other library materials to take home to enhance this early learning experience! Registration is not required.

Moving Forward After Loss Presentation at the Monroe Senior Center,  235 Cutler’s Farm Road, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

For spouses, children and caregivers. Moving forward after loss will address the impact on life after loss. The presentation will speak to both the emotional and the practical reshaping of daily living in the absence of a previously steady presence.

This discussion will be open to all and include consideration of the changing roles after loss for parent, spouse and family member/caregiver.

Join Marcie Carlson, MSW, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience in community education for an informative and interactive discussion. Registration is requested for this event.

Drop-In Craft – Make a Bracelet – at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Grades K-6. Create a colorful bracelet using elastic cord and a variety of beads. Registration is not required.  Location: Children’s Craft Room.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 is the featured Saturday Flick at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. All Ages. Stop in to watch the family-friendly movie. Bring your own snacks and watch on the big screen.  Continuing the story of Max and his pet friends, following their secret lives after their owners leave them for work or school each day. Rated PG. Location: Ehlers Meeting Room.

Outdoor Pickleball at Wolfe Park Tennis Courts, 285 Cutler’s Farm Road, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bring your own paddle and ball to play some pick-up games with others looking for a game.  Free program. No registration required.
