Masuk girls basketball team rolls past Kolbe before heading to Springfield

MONROE, CT — Basketball games are commonly won in the final quarter, if not the waning minutes … or seconds. For Masuk High’s girls basketball team the first quarter was the difference-maker in its 60-43 win over visiting Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport on Thursday. The Panthers outscored Kolbe 18-6 in the opening eight minutes. Both teams put up 19 in the second quarter, leaving Masuk on top 37-25 at the break. Masuk extended its lead to 15 heading into the fourth. The Panthers were led by Bailey Bajda with 24 points, including an 8-for-12 performance from the free throw line.…
