MONROE, CT — Masuk High School’s athletic program flourished in 2024, from the Panthers’ exciting upset win over Windsor for the CIAC Class MM Football Championship to the softball team capturing its sixth consecutive state title. Masuk’s girls lacrosse team also took home a state title.
There were thrilling games with fantastic finishes, such as Ava Moretti’s dramatic walk-off home run to beat Newtown in the South-West Conference Championship game, and Masuk boys basketball player Tyler Newsom’s game winning shot with seconds left on a night when the team celebrated the life of late Jockey Hollow Middle School boys basketball coach, Pete Simoulidis.
There were also great individual accomplishments, including Tristan Smith finishing first in the shot put during the New England Championships and setting Masuk’s all-time record.
