Luke Kondub records 100th point as hockey team competes

Luke Kondub reached the 100 point mark when he had five assists in a 7-3 win over Guilford.

Masuk High’s hockey team shook of a hard-fought 5-4 overtime loss to the Brookfield-Bethel-Danbury-Immaculate (BBDI) co-op at Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday with a 7-3 win over Guilford at New Haven’s Ralph Walker Rink on Monday.

In the BBDI contest, Christian LaBella scored twice and Nick and Luke Kondub also scored.

Luke Kondub had three assists, Nick Kondub had two assists, and James Cybard and LaBella each recorded one assist.

In the Guilford game, Nick Kondub factored in on all of the scoring and racked up seven points with four goals and three assists. Luke Kondub had five assists and recorded his 100th career point in the process.

LaBella scored twice and added an assist, Ryan Ewald notched a goal and two assists and Tommy DaPonte assisted a goal.

Goaltender Maddex LaFountain made 37 saves as Masuk improved to 12-7 heading into the regular-season finale, Saturday, Feb. 24, when the Panthers visit North Branford at 2:30 p.m.
