Kirberger breaks records in State Open

NEW HAVEN, C.T. — Masuk High’s boys swim team had a nice showing in the State Open, at Yale University on March 16. The Panthers placed 15th as a team and had some impressive swims, including a pair of record-setting efforts.

Brendan Kirberger got a best time in the 200 yard freestyle and rebroke his Masuk record as he placed seventh in 1:44.50. He got a best in the 500 free and rebroke his own Masuk record in that event as well, coming in fifth in 4:40.96.

Jack McHugh achieved his best time in the 100 backstroke race, finishing 17th in 55.27.

The 200 yard medley relay of Jack McHugh, Brendan Kirberger, Keller Hall and Mert Baykus was 11th in a time of 1:41.02.

The 200 free relay of Brendan Kirberger, Jack McHugh, Keller Hall and Mert Baykus had its best time placing 15th in 1:30.53.
