Police said the vehicle was last seen parked in the driveway around 5:27 p.m. on Thursday and the owners discovered it was missing around 6 a.m. on Friday.

Crash leads to DUI

A local man was charged with DUI after a crash on Monroe Turnpike early Friday morning.

An officer, parked at the Henny Penny gas station on Route 34 around 12:57 a.m., heard a motor vehicle crash coming from Route 111 (Monroe Turnpike), according to police. While investigating the incident, the officer observed that a gray Dodge pickup truck had sideswiped a utility pole in the 1600 block of Route 111, while heading south.

Police said the driver, a 45-year-old Monroe man, was not injured.

The officer spoke to the driver, who police said had bloodshot, glassy eyes, spoke with a slurred speech and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from him. Field sobriety tests were not performed to standard, leading to the driver’s arrest, police said.

He was charged with operating under the influence and failure to maintain the proper lane. He was released on $500 bond for a July 20 court date.
