Renee Freer case’s heartbreaking conclusion among top public safety stories of 2025

MONROE, Conn. — Police detectives’ decades long investigation into the murder of 8-year-old Renee Freer came to a heartbreaking end in 2025, when the State’s Attorney denied an arrest warrant due to criminal laws for minors in 1977.
