MONROE, CT — Police issued a traffic advisory ahead of this Sunday’s Memorial Day Parade, which will begin at 2 p.m. after participants assemble on Elm Street, south of Monroe Turnpike (Route 111).

The parade will travel north on Monroe Turnpike up to the green at the corner of Route 111 and Fan Hill Road, where a Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place.

The roads surrounding the parade route will be closed at 1:45 p.m. and no traffic will be allowed in either direction on Monroe Turnpike between the green and the Route 111/Elm Street intersection.

All side streets and shopping plazas will also be blocked preventing vehicles from entering onto the parade route.

Police ask drivers to plan their activities in advance to avoid getting stuck on the day of the parade.

All are welcome to join the Monroe community at the parade to pay tribute to those who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of our nation.
