MONROE, CT — Police made a second arrest for the theft of an $899 mattress from NEHDS Logistics, 448 Pepper St.
On July 2, Monroe detectives picked up Jessica Carneiro, 30, of Congress Street in Waterbury, at York Correctional Institution in Niantic, where she was being held on unrelated charges.
Carneiro was charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, before being released on $500 bond and turned over to the Bethel Police Department on its arrest warrant.
Carneiro is scheduled to appear in court on Monroe’s charges on Aug. 26.
On July 24, 2019, Anthony Tiru, 31, of 1437 Banks St., a former NEHDS employee, was seen leaving the warehouse around 8 p.m. with a queen size Bob-O-Pedic mattress folded over his shoulder, according to police.
Police said Tiru left in a truck Carneiro had borrowed from her father. Carneiro sat in the passenger seat and a third, unidentified suspect, was driving, police said.
Tiru was arrested on June 11 and charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny and held on $5,000 bond. He was taken to court the next morning.
