Police ask residents to claim their lost bicycles before clearing out inventory

The Monroe Police Department recently asked residents who lost bicycles to come forward in a Facebook post.

MONROE, CT — Police will soon be clearing out the inventory of lost and found bicycles from their racks, but there is still time for those who lost or misplaced their bike over the past few years to claim their property.

This is not a bicycle giveaway and items will only be returned to the rightful owners. To learn if your bicycle is among the inventory, call Det. Nicole Buckley at 203-452-2831, extension 1304.

Callers should be able to provide basic information on their bicycle, so a valid search of police inventory can be conducted.

For bicycle inquiries, owners should try to describe to the best of their ability the:

  • Bicycle manufacturer (Schwinn, Diamondback, Trek etc.)
  • Type/gears (i.e. Mountain bike/12 speed, 18 speed, BMX style)
  • Approximate size: (i.e. children’s, 20″, 26″)
  • Color or decal design

Callers will also be asked approximately when they noticed their bicycle was lost or missing.
