WMNR founders inducted into CT Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame

John and Carol Babina worked at WHUS, the radio station at the University of Connecticut in the early 1960s, and their love of radio led to a 57-year-marriage, the birth of one son and to many new radio stations and stronger signals throughout the state. Monroe zoning board approves a general store on Main Street

MONROE, CT — A new 7,500-square-foot general store will be built at 685 Main St., on the site of the former hot dog stand near Northbrook Condominiums. The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the site plan application with conditions during its meeting Thursday night. A representative for the applicant, Calito Development Group, could not reveal the name of the store that is coming, but described it as being similar to a Dollar General store, adding his client is experienced with that business. Three stars from Masuk’s softball team sign national letters of intent

MONROE, CT — Three leaders of Masuk High School’s elite softball program signed national letters of intent to continue playing the sport in college during a ceremony inside the school library Wednesday afternoon.
