MONROE, CT — Firefighters battling a blaze that started in an attached garage on Pastors Walk Friday afternoon, successfully prevented the flames from spreading to the main living area of the home.

No injuries were reported and Fire Marshal William Davin is investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighter Kevin Catalano said Monroe, Stepney and Stevenson firefighters encountered heavy smoke when they responded to the call, adding they did an excellent job of using three attack lines to stop the spread.

Five engines and a ladder truck responded, operating for about two hours.

Trumbull and Shelton provided station coverage and Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service and police assisted on scene.
