Join us in our new Monroe Lions Co-op & Cafe Space. This month’s selection is A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult.

Stargazing at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library

All ages.  Join us in the upper parking lot for an evening of stargazing through our new library telescope.  Weather permitting, we will be able to view the Moon, Saturn and other night-sky objects. No registration required.

Tuesday, Dec. 3

Stay & Play at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library

All ages with a caregiver.  Join us for a brief storytime, followed by playtime, socializing, and refreshments.  Early literacy fun for the kids and a meet-up for the grownups. Registration is not required. Location: Children’s Story Room

Ages birth through 6 with a caregiver.  Kids can enjoy our train table, Duplo table, play house, puzzles, puppets, and other toys while caregivers get to know other adults in our community.  We’ll have a fun activity set up in our Craft/Storyhour Rooms. Spontaneous storytimes, bubbles, musical instrument fun, and other activities will vary from week to week.  Be sure to check out books and other library materials to take home to enhance this early learning experience. Registration is not required.

Annual Tree Lighting at Town Hall Gazebo
Sponsored by the Monroe Women’s Club
Masuk Band and Chorus will be performing.  Hot chocolate and cookies will be available.  Santa will be making an appearance. Rain date is Sunday, Dec. 8

7 p.m.
Annual Tree Lighting on the Stepney Green
The Green will be illuminated with over 300 luminary, with Frosty arriving on a Stepney Volunteer Fire truck to help flip the switch to light up the 30 foot tree.  Musical entertainment is provided by Monroe’s own “Just Voices” a cappella choir, with hot cider and donuts served up by the Monroe Boy Scouts. Bring home your piece of the tree lighting with specially minted pewter tree ornament for $10.  All proceeds go to the Stepney Task Force to help fund this annual event. After the tree illumination, join us across the street at the Stepney Baptist Church for candlelight caroling with home baked goodies for all.
