What’s going on in Monroe this week? Oct. 15-20

The Monroe Farmers Market is held on the green in front of Town Hall every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.

The following events are scheduled in town this week, Oct. 14 to Oct. 20:

Join us on the third Tuesday each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for an opportunity to finally get those ideas out of your head and onto paper or laptop. The library welcomes all types of writers who aspire to publish and anyone else who would like to spend an hour in a safe, nurturing environment creating and sharing their work. Seniors are encouraged to document family traditions and personal anecdotes to pass on to loved ones. No registration necessary. Location: Rotary Room

Spontaneous storytimes, bubbles, musical instrument fun, and other activities will vary from week to week. Be sure to check out books and other library materials to take home to enhance this early learning experience. Registration is not required.

Friends of the Library Concert featuring Silver Threads at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library

Silver Threads Band performs mostly folk type music sometimes leaning toward country and sometimes toward rock and roll. The band is led by Julie McClenathan, lead vocals and Rob McClenathan, bass guitar, a husband and wife duo from Monroe.  They are joined by a variety of other local musicians most notably, long-time friend Brian Keane playing lead guitar. The band is also joined by John O’Rourke on guitar and vocals, Bonnie Erickson adding vocals, Don Parker-Burgard on percussion and often by other instrumentalists.  The selection of music we will present comes out of the Greenwich Village club scene of the 1960s.

Registration is not required for this event. The whole family is invited. Location: Ehlers Meeting Room
