Ages birth through 6 with a caregiver. Kids can enjoy our train table, Duplo table, play house, puzzles, puppets, and other toys while caregivers get to know other adults in our community. We’ll have a fun activity set up in our Craft/Storyhour Rooms. Spontaneous storytimes, bubbles, musical instrument fun, and other activities will vary from week to week. Be sure to check out books and other library materials to take home to enhance this early learning experience. Registration is not required.

Elder Abuse Seminar at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library

Elder abuse comes in many forms and can have a profound effect on you or your loved one’s quality of life.  Learn what defines Elder Abuse, who is at risk, how to spot elder abuse, and how to protect yourself from its many forms in this seminar presented by Melissa Mahon and Maria Rosa of Webster Bank.  Registration is requested but drop-ins are welcome.

Pre-K:  Stop by in your costume to celebrate Halloween. There will be some entertainment, then trick-or-treat from the Library to Town Hall, then walk through the Police Department.  *Be sure to bring a bag for candy. Parade will be held rain or shine. Registration is not required. After the parade, come join all your friends back at the library for a pumpkin-themed craft.

Cost:  $10 standard archive box (approx. 15”x12”x10”.  Prices increase $5 per size according to container.  Cash or checks accepted.  Checks should be made out to UMC Monroe.

Mini-Golf Fundraiser at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library

The Friends of the Library will be holding a fun-filled Mini-Golf Fundraiser inside the library.  There will be 18 holes upstairs and down, between the stacks and all over the building, plus a food truck so you can stay through lunch.  Purchase “lucky tickets” to take a chance on winning exciting prize baskets.

$5 per person or $20 for a family of up to five people.  Purchase tickets at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library or at one of the two Monroe branches of our title sponsor, Newtown Savings Bank.  Tickets will also be available at the door.

The library building will be opened specially for this event, but services are CLOSED.  There will be no library staff available to check out materials or give reference assistance.
