MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s field hockey team won four of its first six games, earning decisive victories along the way. Scoring has come from different parts of the lineup with Abby Troesser leading the way, netting a trio of hat-tricks in the early going.
Masuk beat visiting Bethel 4-0 on Monday, its second four-goal decision against the Wildcats, including an 8-4 win on the road in the Sept. 2 opener.
The Panthers also crushed host Shelton 7-1 on Sept. 6 and visiting Lakeview 5-1 on Saturday.
Masuk Coach Laura Lageman noticed the potential for success in the preseason highlighted by a 1-1 tie with tough FCIAC foe Stamford.
“I feel like we have a good, solid team — they’re beginning to mesh with each other,” Lageman said after the win over Lakeview.
Troesser logged three goals as Masuk jumped out to an early and commanding lead. Emma Troesser and Chiara Maier also scored in that win.

The defense was solid and goaltenders Charlie Keppler and Molly Unis combined to keep the visitors from Lakeview off the scoreboard for most of the afternoon.
In Masuk’s season-opening doubling up of Bethel Abby Troesser scored three times and G.G. Moretti and Molly Kinnihan both scored twice. Abby Troesser had three goals in the win over Shelton.
In the second Bethel game, the scoring was distributed between four players as the Troessers twice each tallied and Izzy DeBernardo and Kinahan also scored.
The Panthers will look to keep up their winning ways when they visit Joel Barlow on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
