MONROE, Conn. — The Monroe Volunteer Fire Department reported that several trees came down during Saturday night’s storm, damaging some homes.
“Fortunately there were no injuries,” the fire company said in a post on its Facebook page.
“A big thank you to the approximately 25 townwide volunteer firefighters that came in on 4th of July to staff the fire stations once the storm warnings came in and handled multiple simultaneous calls,” Monroe Fire Chief Kevin Catalano said. “PD, EMS and public works crews were also out to handle calls and help clear some road blockages.”
