MONROE, CT — Police remind residents to be vigilant about not leaving valuables inside their vehicles, locking their doors and not leaving the keys inside following a complaint of four males entering vehicles on Whitewood Drive Monday night.
At approximately 9:27 p.m., a Whitewood Drive man told police he saw four males enter a vehicle on the street, adding he believes they dropped items before leaving in a dark colored sedan. A watch was later found and brought to police headquarters.
The resident also reported hearing a car alarm coming from Williamsburg Drive.
Officers could not find a car matching the description given, but notified police departments in Shelton and Trumbull to be on the lookout.
A two vehicle crash
A 71-year-old Monroe man was issued an infraction for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection after being involved in a two-vehicle-crash on Route 111, at Legacy Lane, Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:23 p.m., police said he was heading east on Legacy Lane in his 2020 Volvo XC40, before inching out onto Monroe Turnpike (Route 111). He did not see a Nissan Rogue heading south on Route 111 and pulled in front of it, according to the report.
Police said both vehicles collided, causing disabling front end damage to both.
Both drivers were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The driver of Volvo was taken to Bridgeport Hospital by Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel and the other driver, a 26-year-old Monroe man, was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center by Echo Hose of Shelton.
The damaged vehicles were towed from the scene.
