Strong seasons end for girls’ soccer and field hockey teams

MONROE, CT — Solid seasons came to a close for Masuk High’s girls’ soccer and field hockey teams.

The girls’ soccer team, No. 26 in the Class L bracket, lost 1-0 to No. 10 Simsbury in the second round on Nov. 10. Simsbury broke a scoreless tie in the waning seconds to escape and advance. The Panthers upset No. 7 Brookfield in the opening round.

In the Class M field hockey tourney, No. 9 Masuk visited No. 8 Avon and fell 4-2 in the first round on Nov. 9. Molly Halliday scored off a penalty corner insert by Emma Cusa, and Izzy Viglione had Masuk’s other tally, also set up off a corner.
