Records broken as Masuk boys make splash heading into Class M meet

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s boys swim team had a phenomenal meet at the Class M State Trials, held at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford on Saturday. Almost every swimmer got a best time in their events and some school record times were recorded. The Panthers will look to continue that success in the Class M Championships, also at Cornerstone, Monday afternoon. Salon Aponte celebrates 35 years of organic hair care

MONROE, CT — A white banner hanging below the green Salon Aponte sign at Tollgate Plaza, 838 Main St., Saturday afternoon carried the message: “Celebrating Our 35th Year, Organic and Natural Hair Care.” Inside, stylists cut, brushed and blowdried the hair of clients seated in front of a row of mirrors. Further back, owner Nancy Aponte brought out trays of vegetables, crackers, meats and cheeses, placing it on a table with a cake for her guests.
