Masuk baseball team reaches state semis

MONROE, Conn. — One step closer … Masuk High’s baseball team won its Class L State Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday and needs just one more victory to reach the pinnacle game.

No. 12 Masuk defeated No 20 Bristol Eastern 3-1 and will take on No. 1 Lyman Hall in Tuesday’s semifinal round. The game will take place at New Britian Stadium at 7 p.m.

In the win over Bristol Eastern, Graham Gabriel tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out six and walking two.

Jackson Zylick scored the first run on a Steven Curtin single. Jerson Perez scored on Al Morgenthaler’s sacrifice fly, also in the first inning. Nico Convertito drove in Perez with the third run, in the third.
