Monroe Police Reports: Crash hospitalizes 5, shoplifting at Dollar General

MONROE, Conn. — Five people were hospitalized following a three-vehicle-crash at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Route 110 on Monday evening. Police Chief Keith White said he believes the injuries were not life threatening. According to a preliminary investigation, police determined a vehicle that was heading north on Wheeler Road around 6:15 p.m. failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the intersection, before being struck by a vehicle traveling on Route 110. MONROE, Conn. — Joey Nizzardo, 23, of Monroe, who is well known for his three-year-winning-streak in the solo category of the annual Hartford HealthCare/St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound, recently competed in the 20 Bridges Swim Around Manhattan on June 15.
