Monroe Police: Driver hit a fire hydrant, a mailbox in rollover crash

MONROE, CT — An 89-year-old Newtown man told officers he was drowsy and fell asleep, before being involved in a rollover crash in his 2023 Toyota RAV4 in the 25-block of Route 59 Friday morning. Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel took him to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to police. MONROE, CT — A developer plans to build a new 7,500-square-foot retail building at 685 Main St., near Northbrook Condominiums. A hot dog stand that used to be on the property had been torn down years ago.
