Monroe Public Schools to open registration for all grades, early kindergarten on Jan. 8

MONROE, CT — Monroe will open registration for all grade levels for the 2025-2026 school year on its website, monroeps.org, on January 8, 2025. As of July 1, 2024, the Connecticut General Statutes require that children need to turn 5-years-old on or before Sept. 1 to be automatically eligible for kindergarten.   The statute also states that a child who is not 5-years-old on or before Sept. 1, but turns 5 before Jan. 1, may be admitted to kindergarten based on a school readiness assessment selected by the school district. Testo’s family restaurant is thriving at its new Monroe home

Mario Testa opened Testo’s at 920 Madison Ave. in Bridgeport in 1976, and despite a change in ownership, a brief retirement and two different locations along the way, Testo’s continues to be a family operation 48 years later. The current owner, Testa’s nephew, Ralph Giacobbe, who first started working in the kitchen of his uncle’s popular restaurant in 1987, ended a brief retirement and opened a new Testo’s at 505 Main St. in Monroe with his wife, Lilly, daughter, Victoria, and son, Giovanni. Masuk hockey team follows up close battle with win

SHELTON, CT — Following a hard-fought 6-5 defeat to Branford in Northford on Dec. 21 the Masuk High boys hockey team skated to a 6-3 win over visiting Woodstock Academy at the Sports Center of Connecticut on Saturday. In the Branford game Luke Kondub scored three times and Tommy DaPonte and Connor Kehlenbach both lit the lamp. Christian LaBella and Graham Cybart both had two assists and Teddy Walsh, Chase DeSanto, Kondub and Kehlenbach all earned assists.
