MONROE, Conn. — Shak’s Boxing and Fitness, 600 Main St. in Monroe, has been nominated as one of the top five locally owned gyms in Fairfield County by CT Insider and has a business rating ranking it among the top 10 gyms in Connecticut. The gym, which opened in late 2024, is also giving Camp Rising Sun, which helps kids fighting cancer, a gift certificate for one of its campers. MONROE, Conn. — Joey Nizzardo, 23, of Monroe, who is well known for his three-year-winning-streak in the solo category of the annual Hartford HealthCare/St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound, recently competed in the 20 Bridges Swim Around Manhattan on June 15.
