MONROE, CT — Police officers spoke to some of the parties involved in an incident late Sunday night when teenagers rang doorbells and knocked on doors and ran away on Meadows End Road and in the area of Pequonnock Ridge Road.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., a Meadows End Road resident called police about the disturbance and, while officers were in route, they received a similar complaint from a Longview Road resident.
Two vehicles were found parked in the road nearby, one registered to a Monroe resident and one with an expired New York transit plate (a temporary plate).
Police contacted the registered owner of the Monroe vehicle, who said her teenage son had the car.
Later Monday morning, one of the teenagers contacted the Monroe Police Department asking why his vehicle, which had the New York plate, was towed. Police said it is illegal to park an unregistered vehicle in the street.
A driver’s license of another Monroe teenager was found in that vehicle.
Police said there were no other reports of crimes or vandalism in the area Sunday.
DUI arrest
A 46-year-old Danbury man was charged with DUI early Saturday morning after someone complained about his white Toyota Tundra partially blocking their driveway in the 1100-block of Monroe Turnpike.
Police said the truck was parked there for approximately 15 minutes.
Officers responding to the call, just after midnight, found the truck partially in the north bound lane with its engine running. The driver was slumped over the steering wheel. Police said he appeared to be sleeping with his foot on the brake pedal and the vehicle in drive.
Officers woke him up and got him to shift his truck into park and remove the keys from the ignition.
While speaking with the driver, officers detected the distinct odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person, his eyes were glossy and his speech was slurred, according to the report.
Police said he admitted to having a couple of beers and subsequent field sobriety tests were not performed to standard.
He was released after posting seven percent of his $500 bond for an Aug. 25 court date.

I am the person from Meadows End Road who called the police after I was awoken by banging on the door and saw five young males runnning up my front lawn on our camera while another waited in the street. Thank you for the article, but it raises some questions. Do we know if there is a connection between the two cars that were found in this incident? Were either of the teenagers mentioned questioned about their involvement in the incident, and if so, did they admit anything? Was it supposed to be a prank?
Hi Anthony, that was all I could get that day, but I’ll follow up Friday to see if police can give any more info on the outcome of the incident.
