Monroe Little League players of the week show power at the plate

Monroe Little League Majors players of the week are, from left, Michael Daly, Tyler Newsome and Connor Fulchino.

MONROE, CT — Monroe Little League had three players of the week in the Majors, Michael Daly, Connor Fulchino and Tyler Newsome for the week of July 3-10.

In AA, Mikey Naughton won player of the week honors for a second time this season.

Michael Daly pitched six innings of shutout baseball for the State Farm Boyle Agency, striking out five batters and walking only one, while leading his team to its second win of the season, a 4-0 triumph over Manny’s/Vazzy’s.

Daly continues to have a dominant season on the pitchers mound. He has pitched a total of 9.2 innings, giving up no runs and striking out nine with one walk. 

Connor Fulchino hit the league’s first home run of the season, a walk off bomb, bringing his team, MaryEllen Hames Dellacato Foundation, back from a 9-4 deficit to win 10-9 over Manny’s/Vazzy’s.

Fulchino also played a flawless shortstop in the field.

Tyler Newsome hit the league’s second homer of the season, a line drive to left field that got out in the blink eye. He doubled later in the game and scored two of State Farm Boyle Agency’s four runs in a 4-0 win over Manny’s/Vazzy’s.

While pitching for Gaetano’s/Valley Roofing and Siding, Mikey Naughton shut down Creative Music Center for three innings. He also had a highlight on offense, hitting a triple deep into right field.
