Monroe Elementary first graders warm hearts for Valentine’s Day

Monroe Elementary School first graders belt out a tune during the Valentine's Day program at their school Thursday.

Monroe Elementary School first graders serenaded their families with songs of love and friendship in a Valentine’s Day program inside their school gymnasium Thursday morning, under the direction of music teacher Alyson O’Grady.

O’Grady said MES’s first grade class performs the holiday program every year.

This year, the children were also going to perform for their Senior Center Pen Pals, socialize with a snack and exchange valentines the day before, but some of the senior citizens were not feeling well, so they had to cancel their visit.
