Menorah lighting to be held in front of Monroe Town Hall Sunday

The Mishkan Israel Day Camp is celebrating the Jewish festival of Chanukah with a series of public lightings of menorahs and the last one will be at 6 p.m. in front of Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road in Monroe, this Sunday.

Town Council Chairwoman Enid Lipeles will represent Monroe in the ceremony, which is open to the public and free to attend. The event will include activities for children, light refreshments and musical entertainment.

Previous lightings were held in Stratford, Trumbull Town Hall, Fairfield and Easton.

Mishkan Israel operates a Stamford-based summer day camp, an outreach initiated in Bridgeport in 1945 by Rabbi Israel Stock and his wife as emissaries of Rabbi Yosef Schneersohn.
