TRUMBULL, CT — Masuk High’s cheerleading squad competed in the Class L State Championships at Trumbull High on Saturday. The Panthers put forth an impressive routine with basket tosses tumbles, flips and more. They finished fifth with a score of 82.85.
Newtown won the competition with a 94.45. Cheshire, East Haven and North Haven were the only other teams to finish ahead of the Panthers among 20 teams in the event.
The top six teams advance to the Team of the Year competition, at North Haven High, Saturday, March 8.
Masuk’s senior captains are Chloe DuBois and Zuma Soriano. The rest of the Panthers are: Sophia Fabrizio, Hayley Reis, Olivia Maniscalco, Olivia Augustine, Zoey Chakraborty, Maya Tomaszewski, Emerson Walsh, Sara Scholz, Monica Glus, Angelica Klittnick, Isabela Torre, Vivian Westphal and Alina Lalic.
The Panthers are led by Head Coach Diane Gaber, Assistant Coach Jackie Bennett and Volunteer Coaches Marissa Esteves and Felicia Anzalone.
