Masuk hockey team wins in overtime

Masuk High’s hockey team visited the Shepaug Spartan co-op team at the Frederick Gunn School in Washington and came away with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory on Feb. 3.

Luke Kondub scored an unassisted shorthanded tally to win it. The Panthers outshot the Spartans 46-22 as Masuk goaltender Maddex LaFountain earned the shutout.

Next for the Panthers was a 4-2 win over the Newtown-New Fairfield co-op at Danbury Ice Arena on Feb. 7. Kondub led the way with a goal and two assists. Christian LaBella, Chase DeSanto and Tommy DaPonte each had a goal and an assist and Teddy Walsh added an assist.

Masuk, with a record of 8-5-2, takes on Trumbull at the Sports Center of Connecticut on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
