SHELTON, CT — Masuk High’s hockey team heads into the playoffs coming off a 12-6-2 regular campaign capped off by a 7-3 win over Newtown-New Fairfield at the Sports Center of Connecticut on Senior Night Wednesday.
Christian LaBella scored a hat-trick and had an assist, Luke Kondub racked up two goals and four assists, Teddy Walsh netted a goal and had assists on three others and Connor Kehlenbach hit the back of the net. Chase DeSanto recorded an assist in the victory.
Brady Floramo was in goal and stopped 18 shots. Masuk compiled 39 shots on goal in the game.
There were some notable accomplishments for a pair of high-scoring Panthers.
With his six points in the game, Kondub has 60 points on the season (25 goals and 35 assists) and went over the 175-point mark in his high school career. He now has 178 total points.
LaBella broke the 50-point mark this campaign. He finished the season with 29 goals and 24 assists for 53 points and now has 149 points in his high school career.
Seniors who were honored are LaBella, Kehlenbach, Sean Pardue and Floramo.
The Panthers skated to a 2-1 win over the Brookfield-Bethel-Danbury-Immaculate team on Feb. 22. Walsh and Kyle Riccitelli had the goals and LaBella notched an assist. Maddex LaFountain was in net and stopped 17 shots.
The Division III SCC-SWC Tournament will take place with the semifinals Wednesday and the championship game on Friday, both at Danbury Ice Arena. Then it is on to the State Tournament.
