Masuk girls volleyball plays St. Joes Wednesday

The Panthers celebrate a point last fall.

MONROE, CT — The Masuk High girls volleyball team takes on St. Joes on the road this Wednesday.

The Panthers started their season with a tough 3-0 loss to Trumbull and were playing against Ridgefield Monday night.

Masuk’s first South-West Conference match is this Friday, Sept. 16, at Pomperaug at 5:30 p.m. The toughest SWC opponents likely include Joel Barlow and Newtown.

Coach Carol Ortiz’s Panthers have a mix of experienced, returning players and newcomers with 13 freshmen on the roster to begin the year.

Seniors include Jenna Dattilo, Rose Kealey, Lucy Pagel and Carly Snyder. Juniors are Hannah Fagan, Emma Kilcullen, Alexis Mitrakis, Tolulope Olatinwo, Lila Pagel and Sam Sullivan.
