Masuk girls golfers fall short in a close battle with Newtown

MONROE, CT — Masuk’s girls golf team lost a close game on the road to Newtown High School Monday, 196 to 211.

Kendall Reed of Newtown had the best individual score with a 42 and teammate, Caitlin Briggs, finished second with a 49, as the Nighthawks finished Newtown Country Club’s par 34 course in 15 fewer strokes than Masuk.

Elissa Campos had the best score for the Panthers with 50, followed by Sophia Heinrich 51, Carrie Wittenauer 52, Lauren Breyan 52, Izzy Roy 56 and Kate Wittenauer 60.

Other individual scores for Newtown were Norah Kolb 51, Nidhi Mukka 52, Aidan Herbstman 54 and Abby Watson 52.
