Masuk girls basketball team dominates Bassick in opener

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Masuk High girls basketball team got off to a nice start in Dan Young’s coaching debut. The Panthers rolled to a 60-19 victory at Bassick on Wednesday night. 

Masuk poured in 25 first-quarter points and led 41-10 at the half.

Bailey Bajda led the way with 16 points, Grace Kearney had 12, and Natalie Lieto and Hannah Fagan both dropped in 11. Maia Ventresca had five, Sam Dube scored four and Sofia Lieto tacked on a free throw.

Masuk was 15-for-20 from the foul line.

“The girls got off to great start and worked well together,” Young said. “We know we need to continue to improve each day and are excited to begin conference play with a strong Brookfield team on Friday.”

The Panthers will host the Bobcats at 7 p.m.
