WATERBURY, CT — Masuk High’s football team got new Coach Chris Pace a win in his first game, kicking off the season with a 32-21 victory at Holy Cross on Friday night.
Jake Viglione rushed for a pair of touchdowns, Michael Charland ran the ball 16 times for 148 yards and quarterback Aaron Champagne completed 7 of 11 pass attempts for 96 yards and rushed five times for 38 more to lead the attack.
Viglione scored the game’s first TD on a two yard run and added a two-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead. Holy Cross pulled to within 8-7 after one quarter.

Masuk’s Luke Constantini scored on a two yard run of his own and Brayden Callahan nailed the first of his three extra point kicks to extend the lead in the second quarter. Viglione added a three yard run and Masuk led 22-14 at halftime.
Domenico Convertito scored on an eight yard run and Callahan hit a late 23 yard field goal to make it a two-possession game. Callahan also had 10 tackles, two for a loss.
