Masuk field hockey team wins first round playoff game

MONROE, CT — Two goals by Molly Halliday led the fourth-seeded Masuk High field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over visiting and fifth-seeded New Fairfield in the South-West Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday.

The Panthers defeated the Rebels 5-3 late in the regular season.

Masuk advances to visit top-seeded Newtown in the semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. Newtown edged the Panthers 1-0 in overtime during the regular season.
