Masuk boys golfers nip Newtown to remain unbeaten

NEWTOWN, CT — Masuk boys golfers improved their record to 9-0 with a close victory over Newtown High School at Rock Ridge Country Club Tuesday.

Alex Giugno, of Masuk, had the best score, earning the medalist title by finishing the 36-par-course in 40 strokes as the Panthers won 169-177.

Masuk’s other top scorers were John Mcintyre 41, Colin Abbott 42 and Justin Carriero 46 with Brien Trimbach N/A.

Newtown’s top four individual scores included James Celentano 41, Brendan Adams 44, Colin Luby 45 and Charlie Hanson and Alex Walton each had 47.

Coach Bob Pagel’s Panthers will play a home game against Pomperaug High School today (Wednesday). It will be held at Whitney Farms Golf Course at 3 p.m.
