MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s boys basketball team concluded the regular season with a 69-65 win over visiting Shelton in a nonconference clash on Saturday.
Mitch DeBernardo scored 21 points, had seven assists, grabbed four rebounds and came away with five steals. Alex Simouldis dropped in 18 points to go along with a trio of assists and four rebounds.
Saijon Gavin logged 13 points, two rebounds, an assist and one block. Oliver Irving recorded nine points, an assist, two rebounds and a three steals. Stephen Sentementes had points along with eight assists, six rebounds, one block and a steal. Jayden Cassese contributed points, an assist and a rebound.
The Panthers earned the No. 6 seed in the South-West Conference Tournament and will travel to No. 3 Weston in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Masuk lost 70-57 to Weston this past Thursday.
The semifinals are Friday, Feb. 21, with the finals Monday, Feb. 24, at Western Connecticut State University.
