Masuk boys cross country beats Bunnell in home meet

Brayden Hershberger was the Panthers’ top finisher, placing fourth place overall in Masuk's home meet at Great Hollow Lake Monday.

MONROE, CT — The Masuk boys cross country team beat Bunnell 22-35 at a home meet at Great Hollow Lake Monday afternoon, lost by only one point to Kolbe Cathedral (28-27) and lost to Immaculate 33-26.

“I thought we showed a lot of improvement,” Masuk Coach Seamus O’Reilly said. “We had six of our nine runners get season bests and we had four runners get an all time best. I’m very happy with the way everyone’s getting consistently better.”

Brayden Hershberger was the Panthers’ top finisher, coming in fourth place overall with a time of 18:06.

Sebastian Riera, who came in sixth (18:23), Filip Wadolkowski (8th, 19:15), and Dylan McKellick (17th, 19:56) also had strong finishes for Masuk.

The Panthers other finishes include Jahdami Reid 21st (20:32), Nick Jackson 24th (21:54), Brody Philbin 25th (21:57), Micah Russell 35th (25:16) and Jude Mathien 37th (34:54).

Masuk’s next meet will be at Bethel High School Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 4:30 p.m., when the Panthers face Bethel and Newtown.
