Masuk Athletic Hall of Fame to enshrine 18 new honorees

MONROE, CT — The Masuk Athletic Hall of Fame was created in 2023 by a group of current and former Monroe coaches, educators, and community members to recognize and honor former athletes, coaches, administrators, and supporters who made significant contributions to the school’s continued tradition of athletic excellence.

The committee has announced its 2025 inductees and three Panther Pride Award winners. All will be recognized at the third annual MAHOF ceremony, which will take place at Tashua Knolls Golf course on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The 2025 Masuk Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include:

  • Ralph Franco, coach
  • Chris Grubb, swimming, diving 1988
  • Samantha Halpern, basketball 1997
  • Danielle Honrath, swimming 2003
  • Alana Katzen, cheerleading 2006
  • Trudi Kelly, coach
  • Erika Mansson, track 2007
  • Stephen Masso, soccer 2000
  • Nicole Myrick, basketball 1992
  • Walter Nevolis, cross country, track 1976
  • Ray Norell, football 2004
  • Alyssa Pagano, softball 2008
  • Katie Reynolds Sepelak, basketball 2002
  • Julie Giampaolo Soracin, track 1986

2025 Panther Pride Award Recipients:

Masuk Football Team 2025: Class MM State Champions and #6 in the State

Head Coach: Steve Christy

Captains: Tariq Al-Hameedi, Nick Fox, David Marciano, Sebastian Nicolas and Ryan Putnam

Masuk Softball Team 1974: The Masuk High School Softball team won Masuk’s first ever state   championship in the initial CIAC state softball tournament in 1974.

Head Coach: Trudi Kelly

Masuk Softball Team 2025: The Masuk softball team finished the season with a record of 26-1. They won the SWC title with a 1-0 win over Brookfield and beat Waterford, 3-0, to win their 7th consecutive Class L State Championship. They finished the season as the No. 1 team in the state.

Head Coach: Leigh Barone

Captains: Julia Bacoulis, Alyssa Castillo, Sofia Lieto and Ava Moretti

Proceeds of the Masuk Hall of Fame dinner contribute to The Panther Excellence Scholarship, given to two students who best exemplify sportsmanship, character, athletic, and academic achievement.

Last year’s award winners were Ava Moretti and Christopher Welch, who are attending University of Georgia and Salem State College respectively.
