MONROE, CT — Masuk High School Athletic Director Brian Hourigan served as master of ceremonies for Signing Day in the school media center Tuesday morning, when families and coaches celebrated eight students’ declarations of what colleges and universities they will play for after graduation.
“We are here to honor the hard work, dedication and achievements of some truly exceptional student athletes,” Hourigan said from the podium. “Signing today is not only a commitment to furthering your athletic careers, but also your education and personal growth at the collegiate level.”
“This moment is a testament to your countless hours of practice, perseverance and passion for your sport,” he told the athletes. “It’s also a testament to the unwavering support of your families, coaches, teammates and the entire Masuk community. Today, we celebrate you and your future.”
Signing for their future schools were:
- Max Viglione, the University of New England, football and lacrosse
- Ryan Putnam, Endicott College, football
- Shane Walker, University of New Haven, football
- Brendan Kirberger, Colby College, swimming
- Lexi Goldberg-Friedman, University of Indianapolis, tennis
- Andrew O’Hara, Western Connecticut State University, baseball
- Chris Welch, Salem State University, baseball
- Kira Rescanski, University of New Haven, lacrosse
