Man allegedly fires pellets at landscapers in leaf blowing dispute

MONROE, CT — A Woodlawn Road man allegedly fired two shots at landscapers with a pellet gun following a dispute over them blowing leaves close to his property Thursday afternoon.

Around 2:33 p.m., the landscapers called police to report they had a verbal confrontation with Kenneth Krom, 53, of 68 Woodlawn Road, before Crom came back outside with a BB-gun as they were packing up their truck.

Police said Krom fired two shots and one pellet struck a commercial lawnmower, damaging the engine block, which will require repairs from a mechanic.

When officers spoke to Krom, police said he initially denied using a BB-gun, instead saying a threw a rock, before later admitting he using the gun.

Krom was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He was released on $500 bond for an Oct. 30 court date.
