Legal Notice: Special Town Meeting on bonding for $3.6 million infrastructure, public safety projects

The town of Monroe issued a warning and notice of a Special Town Meeting to be held on Monday, Jan. 13,2020 at 7 p.m. The Monroe Sun ran an article explaining the requests.

WARNING AND NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all electors and those qualified and lawfully entitled to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Monroe, Connecticut (the “Town”) that the Town Council has called for a Special Town Meeting to be held at the Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, Connecticut on January 13, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to CONSIDER AND ACT UPON THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTIONS HAVING BEEN RECOMMENDED BY THE FIRST SELECTMAN AND APPROVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL AND BOARD OF FINANCE:

  1. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION OF $1,650,000 FOR A TOWN WIDE EMERGENCY RESPONSE RADIO SYSTEM, A BOARD OF EDUCATION RADIO SYSTEM, AND PHASE I OF THE TOWN WIDE PORTABLE RADIO REPLACEMENTS AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF THE TOWN’S GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,650,000 TO FINANCE THE APPROPRIATION; and,
  2. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION OF $720,000 FOR THE TOWN’S 2019-2020 VEHICLE REPLACEMENT PLAN AND THE PURCHASE OF TRUCKS FOR DPW AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF THE TOWN’S GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $720,000 TO FINANCE THE APPROPRIATION; and,
  3. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION OF $1,020,000 FOR A ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND RECONSTRUCTION PHASE 7 PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF THE TOWN’S GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,020,000 TO FINANCE THE APPROPRIATION; and,
  4. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION AND BOND AUTHORIZATION OF $215,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE EQUIPMENT (collectively the “Resolutions”).

The full text of the Resolutions are on file and open to public inspection at the office of the Town Clerk, Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, Connecticut.
