About Joshua Bent

The late Joshua Bent is leaning forward In this old family photo. Behind him, from left, is his father Frank, sister-in-law Nicole, brother Matthew, and mother Johanne.

Frank and Johanne lost their son, Joshua, in 2007 at only 27-years-old, after he was involved in a car crash in Massachusetts on Memorial Day weekend.

Joshua was an organ donor and nine people benefited from receiving his lungs, kidneys, heart, liver, corneas, pancreas, intestines and skin.

The Bents have kept their son’s memory alive with the annual Joshua Bent Memorial Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament.

Proceeds benefit Masuk High School students pursuing careers in architecture, Joshua’s chosen field. The fund also provides financial aid for students in need at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, which was Joshua’s Alma mater.

The scholarship provides $2,500 for tuition per year, for a total of $10,000 in aid over four years.

Over the years it has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, while benefitting graduating seniors at Masuk, as well as students from Stratford, Trumbull and Fairfield, according to Frank Bent.
