MONROE, Conn. — Charlotte Pane, 5, of Shelton, painted a rock for the rock garden at The Wolfe’s Den Playground at Wolfe Park, while taking part in an activity at the Rotary Club of Monroe’s table during Harmony Grange No. 92’s Spring Craft-Artist Fair at Fireman’s Field Saturday morning.
Shoppers visited rows of artists’ and crafters’ tents on the grassy field, the Monroe Summer Orchestra performed live music and food trucks catered to a variety of tastes.
Among the crafters, Rustics by Mitch, a Torrington business, creates charcuterie and cutting boards out of reclaimed wood. The owner, Mitch Mitchell, made boards adorned with team logos for the Yankees, Red Sox and Patriots.
His wife, Carolyn, teaches arts and crafts workshops for kids and adults as part of her business, The Brush & Pallet. One of her pieces at the fair had “How to tell time” painted on the wood. Beneath it was “AM” with two coffee mugs, and PM with two wine glasses.
The fair offered everything from bird houses and carved bears to soy candles and face painting.
