Golfer charged with assault at the 6th hole

MONROE, CT — A man, who was assaulted while trying to break up a fight between two golfers on the sixth hole at Whitney Farms Golf Course Friday evening, was taken to the hospital with “non-life threatening injuries,” according to police.

Officers responding to the report of an assault around 5:24 p.m., determined Francis Bacarella, 25, of Lynn Drive in Monroe, allegedly assaulted the victim.

Bacarella was charged with second-degree assault and released on $2,000 bond for an Oct. 22 court date.

DUI arrest on Hillside Lane

A Massachusetts man was charged with DUI Saturday night, after the driver behind him told police he was driving erratically, while heading east on Route 110, toward Shelton.

Thomas Goclowski, 25, of Worchester, was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive in the proper lane and failure to obey a stop sign. He was released on $500 bond for an Oct. 19 court date.

Police said the complainant reported that Goclowski turned his sedan onto Hillside Lane and pulled into a driveway.

Officers responding to the call, which came in around 9 p.m., saw the sedan leave the driveway, before the driver, Goclowski, abruptly pulled the vehicle over — even though the officers did not have their lights and sirens activated, according to police.

As the officers approached the sedan, police said the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from Goclowski, who later did not perform field sobriety tests to standard, leading to his arrest.
