Girl Scouts collect close to 1,000 pounds of food for Monroe families in need

MONROE, CT — Girl Scout Troop 34001 organized a collection drive for the Monroe Food Pantry on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The ambitious Girl Scouts collected a total of 976 pounds of nonperishable food items, according to Eddie Lui, the food pantry coordinator.

“The residents of Monroe would like to thank Troop No. 34001 for their hard work, dedication and commitment in supporting the mission of the Monroe Food Pantry,” Lui said. “The pantry will run more smoothly with this donation.”

“These girls’ intelligence, motivation and respectful demeanor will undoubtedly make them very successful in whatever endeavors they pursue,” he added.
